Fiesta of Cristo de los Dolores – during September in Tacoronte

In honour of the Holy Cristo de los Dolores the village of Tacoronte celebrates throughout September. This includes music, dancing and delicious food. The region around Tacoronte is famous for its excellent wines and this is a good opportunity to try them while you are there. One part of the event is the handicraft market where you can find souvenirs for family and friends back home while you are enjoying Tenerife. Tacoronte is situated to the north east of Puerto de la Cruz, where the FU International Academy is located. You can reach it very easily by bus no. 101. Festival Sabandeño – September 3th 2011 in Plaza del Cristo in La Laguna

The Sabandeños folk music festival is a must for everyone who likes to be in touch with the culture of the place they are visiting. The first event took place in 1972 and gets its name from the group of the same name “Los Sabandeños” who are from Santa Cruz. Every year the organisers invite singers and musicians from all over the world to participate. If you haven’t heard the unique music from the Canary Islands it’s really worth a visit. Maná live in concert – September 24th 2011, at 21.30 h, in Santa Cruz

With their new album “Drama y Luz” the music group Maná is on tour through Spain. They are having two concerts in the Canary Islands, one in Gran Canaria and the other one here at Tenerife, in the Estadio Heliodoro López in Santa Cruz. Experiencing nature, the beauty of Tenerife – Hiking on the island where the spring is at home

Tenerife offers a diverse range of hiking trails. The vegetation and the landscape of the island is varied so that everybody can find a suitable level of walk. Foot paths can be found in the Anaga mountains in the north east and in Teno to the west. A very special experience is to climb the highest peak of Spain, the Teide, which is 3,718 metres high. The first trail begins near the Cable Car station and goes up to the mountain refuge - “Refugio alta vista”, at 3.270 metres. The atmosphere when the sunset begins is incredible and the view is more than impressive. If you wake up early and get to the top before sunrise you can see the longest shadow in the world - a unique experience. To sleep in the refuge you need to book in advance.
