Bavarian Week - Semana Bávara y Fiesta de la Cerveza

The “Oktoberfest” comes to Spain - in the summer! From August 26th to September 4th , Puerto de la Cruz celebrates Semana Bávara for the 37th year running.
“Ozapft is!” is the expression to use when you open a barrel of draught beer. People who like beer will love this festival. You can also try typical Bavarian food such as "Leberkäs and Weißwurst", meat loaf and sausage.

Every day there are free concerts in different locations (Playa Jardín, Lago Martiánez, Iglesia de la Peña de Francia) in Puerto de la Cruz.
Also this year, you can see the traditional Bavarian band “Die lustigen Egerländer” from Germany. Their concert in the Plaza Europa (September 4th, 7pm) will be the highlight of the week. The cost is 10 Euro but for this you get to hear a genuine traditional band, a beer and a chance to win a lottery – you have to be in it to win it!
It is very popular with the local Tinerfeños, but also hundreds of Bavarian, and German-speaking residents and tourists go along for a traditional night out.

So: PROST - Cheers!!

FIFA World Cup at FU Café – The biggest football party in Puerto de la Cruz

A packed Café, a great atmosphere and enthusiastic fans - Who can forget those memorable evenings at the FU Café during the FIFA World Cup 2010? Apart from the great food, chilled beer and drinks the giant screen was the main attraction for a whole month.

The Café was bursting at the seams with extra seating and another screen put on the terrace for the semi-finals and the final. Football fans and even others who are not normally interested in the sport packed in to celebrate with Spain. Before and after the games the fans relaxed and played their own table football, darts and billiards championships.

The atmosphere reached its peak when the victorious Spanish squad were handed the World Cup for the first time ever. Ángel, the barman, had borrowed a stuffed octopus for the event and roused the crowd with cries of “Pulpo, pulpo!” - Apart from Andrés Iniesta, who scored that magic goal, Paul the psychic octopus was man of the match!

From the end of this month, the FU Café doors will be open again for all the games of the Spanish "Primera División" and the Champions League.

Party on…
